The Race Card: From Gaming Technologies to Model Minorities by Tara Fickle

I just got my copy of Dr. Tara Fickle’s The Race Card: From Gaming Technologies to Model Minorities (NYU Press, 2019). And though I have only read the “Introduction” thus far, it is thoughtful, intriguing, lucid, carefully plotted, and super, duper smart! I look forward to reading the rest over winter break. It will actually be very helpful as I think about my own research and my second book project, which will likely focus on speculative fictions and games of color, particularly in the domain of afro- and asian-futurism.

I am tickled, too, that in the first few pages, I got a shout out. And I am in the very cool, very clever acknowledgments page (in the form of a word search. I am honored and humbled to be included and hope to continue to cite and collaborate with folks like Tara!
