VIRTUAL TALK: “Gaming the Future: New Perspectives on Digital Entertainment,” Ohio State University

osu_rpg

Today I will be participating in a gaming and discussion event held by Ohio State University’s Rhetoric Politics Gaming (@RPGseries) Series entitled “Gaming the Future: New Perspectives on Digital Entertainment.”  I will be Skyping into the event as a presenter and discussant to talk about where I think digital games are going, what are the new horizons for games, and what changes might be in store.  According to the group’s blog:

This month we wanted to try something a little different. Rather than setting the terms ourselves, we reached out to some people doing interesting and exciting work in games and game-related endeavors to see if they’d be willing to join us for a conversation about the past and future of digital entertainment.

We’re delighted to welcome (via Skype) Dr. Edmond Chang, Assistant Professor of English at Drew University and (in-person) OSU alum John Geiger, Founder and CEO of tracermedia and the truly fantastic Arcade Super Awesome. They’ll each be bringing along some games (provocations?) to get us thinking about both the history and the future of the medium.

Though there will be no live stream of the event, I hope to be live tweeting (@edmondchang) as questions, answers, and conversation fly!  Thanks to James Harris, OSU’s RPG Series, and the participants for the invitation to be a part of the event and for listening!
