My trusty laptop, named HQ 76 (after the Library of Congress call number for queer theory), died today. It has suffered a few mishaps in the last year or so (the soda explosion in particular). It was limping along for a while, but now It no longer even boots up. HQ 76 gave me seven long years of service seeing me through grad school, my dissertation, many class preps and conferences, and of course hours and hours of entertainment. I pulled the hard drive out of the computer (the rest of which will be recycled) to turn into some sort of art piece.
